When was this idea conceived?
July 2010.
What it is?
Z.A Day (Zombie Apocalypse Day) is a retro text based zombie survival horror game with a stylised GUI; allowing players to host a MUD Server for LAN or Internet play with a single click from the games menu and join that same server game with a second click. The game will be fully editable on release for added appeal.
Gameplay Features?
Z.A Day game play emphasis is dual – with equal capacity for players to scavenge and return items of value to the main game safe zone (the safe game) or alternatively for players to branch out and explore the ‘infected zones’ (the tough game), finding smaller safe houses in which to resupply. Gaining ‘Survival Points’ (and therefore increasing levels) is the aim of the game in Z.A Day – points are awarded for trading items of value – or naturally, for killing enemies. Enemies come in multiple forms including; Zombies, Feral Animals and Rogue Survivors. A multitude of weapons exist in game; including all times of firearms, blades, baseball bats, wooden spoons and perhaps even a chicken with a pulley in the middle. Additionally as a twist on the points system; if your characters health is failing, items are traded for medical attention rather than points. Keeping healthy is the key to survival!
Where you guys at with this?
We’re actively developing this in July 2010 using the excellent Mud32 engine by Matt Owen. We’ve pretty much completed the front and and are working extensively on the game world. It’s going to be epic, and full of lulz! Check back here for more information, or visit our blog.
