When was this idea conceived?

July 2009.

What it is?

Project Indigo is the concept of a simple, but graphically impressive and fast paced side scrolling shoot-em-up (in the sytle of R-Type, Zero Wing, etc) for the PC with the innovation being that the action should be controlled with Nintendo Wii Remote’s – allowing up to four players and specifically targeting big screen play (even projectors).

Gameplay Features?

Tipping the Wii Remote axis would result in the players craft going up and down, where as D-Pad on the Wii Remote would result in ‘thrusters’ and forward and back movements. The B Button – trigger – on the Wii Remote would control a player craft’s weapons.

Where you guys at with this?

Indigo Fighter, Alien Fighter, Alien Mother Ship - Concept Sprites.

We have drawn up a large selection of concept artwork, and tested a concept level with including the Wii Remote functionality on the PC – both of these endeavors were successful. Some music was also composed for a test level. However we have yet to locate an engine we feel is wholly suitable for the task and are unwilling to code one from the ground up for this particular project.
